Katherine Bray provides both practical and fun private drum lessons at her home studio in Canberra (Central Region) or online via Zoom/Skype. All ages and skill levels are welcome and beginner friendly. In contrast to most music schools in Canberra, Katherine Bray offers a set up that includes two great quality acoustic drum kits for both the student and Katherine as well as written lesson plans/records that are modified for each individual student. Katherine guides you through well regarded drum books as well as her own written material. See below for examples of Katherine’s curriculum. Book a lesson today!

Online Private Drum Lessons Via Zoom

Zoom Lessons will be scheduled online. For the lessons you will need a stable WiFi access while sitting on your Drum Set or Practice Pad.
If you are interested in having lessons through Zoom, you will get further information about the procedure after contacting me.
Katherine is currently only teaching zoom lessons before 2pm (AEDT) on weekdays.

Coming Soon: Scholarship Program in 2024!

As financial constraints can limit oppurtunities, Katherine will be offering a scholarship program. This program offers a deserving student the opportunity to recieve 10 weeks of complimentary weekly lessons. If you’re interested in signing up or have any questions, please contact Katherine. Katherine Bray’s Curriculum

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced drummer, Katherine offers over 100 meticulously designed lessons suitable for all skill levels. If you're just starting out and have never played a drum kit, or you've been playing in bands for over 5 years, Katherine tailors her lessons to meet your individual needs. Additionally, she guides you through renowned drum books, including Stick Control, Syncopation for the Modern Drummer, The All American Drummer, and New Breed.

  • Beginner

    During your initial lesson, Katherine will cover the fundamental aspects of technique, coordination, and reading drum sheet music. She is committed to helping you learn songs as early as possible. Don’t be overwhelmed if the sheet above looks too challenging as Katherine will help guide you through it.

  • Intermediate

    As you progress to an intermediate level, Katherine will lead you through concepts such as four-way coordination, techniques to enhance control and endurance for improved speed, strategies for tackling challenging exercises, and a variety of other valuable insights to elevate your drumming skills.

  • Advanced

    If you have found yourself unsure of what to focus on at an advanced level, Katherine employs a systematic approach by breaking drumming into distinct pillars such as Technique, Timing, Versatility, Speed, Improvisation and more. She will assist you in identifying any weaknesses, providing targeted exercises, and tailoring her drum lessons to align with your specific goals.
